Leadership in Ministry Retreat

The heartbeat of our church is the work of passionate ministry teams who bear witness to the grace of God and give expression to our core values. So, to support their work as we prepare for the 2017-2018 program year, we’ll convene for an overnight retreat at Prairiewoods, the Franciscan ecospirituality conference center near Cedar Rapids. This retreat will offer a rich spiritual foundation for our ministry in the next year and provide designated time for our leaders to plan together.
Everyone interested in serving on a ministry team is invited to participate in the retreat. You have the option of participating in the whole overnight retreat or joining on Sunday for a day of planning.
Spiritual Retreat
Pastor Cameron will lead this evening retreat, focusing on our church’s commitments to social justice and offering spiritual practices for strengthening our capacity for Christian social action. Plan to arrive at Prairiewoods by 4 pm on Saturday, share dinner with the group, and stay in the guesthouse overnight.
Ministry Planning Colloquy
Sunday morning will include small group discussions among our ministry teams to organize their priorities for the coming year. In the afternoon, our teams will meet as a large group to discern how our ministries fit together into a shared mission that is faithful to the grace of God. If you wish to participate in only the Ministry Planning Colloquy, please plan to arrive at Prairiewoods by 9 am Sunday morning and to enjoy a lunch that will be provided.

Retreat Options:
Overnight Stay: beginning Saturday at 4pm; includes Saturday supper, Sunday breakfast & lunch; $35 suggested donation to help with cost of a single room; $55 suggested donation to help with shared cost of a double room.
Planning Day: Sunday 9-4pm; includes lunch.
